1st Annual Kidlitosphere Conference –Update!
Have you guys been watching the ever-growing RSVP list? Holy moly! Authors, librarians, many of your favorite kidlit bloggers–this is going to be such a great time! And I think we’re even going to do t-shirts! I will go practically anywhere if there’s a t-shirt in it for me.
The time is drawing near when I need to commit to the hotel about how much food I’m ordering and how many hotel rooms we actually need. So if you’re still thinking about coming, think a little bit faster and let me know in the next week or so, if you don’t mind.
I’ve started a Yahoo group for people I know are coming or who are just on the cusp of it. If you haven’t received my Yahoo invitation yet but you know or almost know you’re coming to the conference, please send me an e-mail and say, “What’s up? Where’s my invitation?” I’ll correct my mistake right away. Then you guys can start talking to each other about who wants to share rooms, who needs transportation from Midway, who’s bringing the Ding Dongs, etc.
I’m so excited so many of you are coming! Last night I got the latest “I’m in” from Betsy Bird, a.k.a. Fuse #8. If you’ve been following her blog, you know she’s got this fancy red dress now. The dress code is pretty casual for this thing, but I almost feel like we should make an exception for Betsy. And anyone else who’s got some fancy duds they want to bust out for the evening.
Anyway, come one, come all. The list is growing, but I’d love to see it get even longer! We all deserve this chance to get together and hang out and talk non-stop for 24 hours. Dontcha think?

I got as far as reserving the hotel for Saturday night. But my plane plans are giving me difficulty. I won’t be able to land before 2PM at the earliest on Saturday. Any chance we could plan one event for Sunday morning, so I won’t feel like I missed most of it? Because of course, it’s all about me.
Except when it’s about Patrick.

Nancy, I think that can be arranged. I know some people are leaving Sunday morning, but it will all work out.

Ha! I totally was coming with or without a Sunday event. But I’d still love to do a Sunday event if we can.
Gotta go book the flights now. I have to take a prop plane from Bar Harbor to Boston. Fun!

Oh, golly. I hear ya on needing full yeses or nosirees. It’s killing me but I think I’m going to have to wait and come to the second one (maybe we should do that one in Austin?!?!?) I am blowing my pocketbook to go to L.A. in August.
Sigh. I’m going to keep reading vicariously here, though. With admiration. And envy. Sigh again.

Just posting to say I just confirmed my plane & hotel reservations. I’ll be arriving late Friday afternoon & leaving early Sunday afternoon. Yay!

Camille, I knew I’d hit some soft spots with that one. I’m a sucker for t-shirts, too. And coffee mugs, but I think that will have to be year #2.

I don’t know if this is the place to RSVP, but wanted to let you know…I think I have a speaking engagement that weekend, checking on it and will get back to you, but if I am at all able I would love to be involved!!! If I have to go on Saurday, maybe I can do something special and fun on Friday?
