March chocolate winners!!

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

SO many entries this month. And I found out why: Yahoo put me on some sort of a “free chocolate” list. Hmmm.
Whether you’re a book lover or just a chocolate lover, all’s fair. So here are this month’s lucky chocolate winners:
SHARON J.!
FRAN B.!
KAITLYN R.!
And a special bonus chocolate to
LYNN [...]

The Friday list (nice things you did for yourself this week)

Friday, March 30th, 2007

I did something really, really kind for myself yesterday: I gave myself permission to stop reading a book that was boring me to sleep every night.
I really tried. Someone recommended it, and it looked like it had promise, and it probably does if that’s the kind of book you want to read.
But after [...]

Oh, thank goodness

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Nikki and Paolo are dead.
Phew.
Unfortunately, we had to sit through that whole show and learn even more about characters we didn’t give even a small you-know-what about.
A wasted hour.
But at least they won’t bother us again.
Wasn’t it weird to see Boone and Shannon again? And wasn’t Shannon just as annoying as ever? Which [...]

A special thank you to the guy whose car I hit

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

And not just because he solves my problem for today about what to write. The blogger’s dirty secret.
There we were, Bear and I, just driving home from a lovely walk in the park with a dear friend of mine, and we were stopped at a light just a few blocks from home, and I [...]

Tuesday Book Club

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

I’m in the middle of a book, but haven’t finished it yet, so nothing to report this week. I did read this month’s entire O magazine, which is about the length of a novel, but I’ll stick to counting books.
How about you, you powerhouse readers? Whatchu got this week?

The kind of rejection that makes you laugh

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Guess what I just got from Fed Ex?
A package from a publisher not my own.
And inside was a partial manuscript and synopsis for the novel I’d written before the one that’s coming out this summer. I had submitted those to this particular editor in JANUARY, 2005.
And the cover letter said, “Sorry for the delay,” [...]

Thanks to Fuse #8 for this dose of grace yesterday. I’m passing it onto you today. Savor the transformation of the curmudgeon.

The virginity chat

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

I’m home! Little Bear (who, remember, is not little anymore, though he can’t seem to remember that) keeps coming into my office, like right now, and trying to climb onto my lap, he’s so happy to see me. Eighty-five pounds of Lab maneuvering onto my chair. And he brings me little chips [...]

My favorite memento ever

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

It’s late, I’m sure I should be in bed, the exhaustion hit me during dinner like a commuter train, but I just have to tell you about this.
My school appearance this afternoon was PHENOMENAL. And not because of me, but because of them.
Here’s how it went:
I arrived at North Crowley High School around two, [...]
