I’ve resisted this long, but I’m ready.

  3. Kelley says:

“Death is the destination we all share…. death is very likely the single best invention of life…. It clears out the old to make way for the new.” Absolutely fabulous speech. I hope these students took his words deeply to heart. I certainly am. Thanks for sharing, Robin, and for letting us know about it, HipWriterMama.

(Incidentally, Robin, the lines I quoted remind me of your reincarnation posts….)

  4. Vivian says:

Isn’t this speech great? I’ve hit this obstacle in my manuscript, and this speech helped me refocus.

  5. Robin – Fight it! Fight it! resist the Mac. It’s not as cool as their commercials!

  6. Deborah says:

A lot of the Mac users I know (including son) are really gung-ho about their machines and usually try to ‘convert’ me. I just don’t have that kind of relationship with my computer and not sure I want to…

Kelley, I’m glad you loved that speech, too. I’m so happy he told those high-achieving Stanford grads that the most important thing is loving what you do, and that it’s his “failures” that have led to some of his greatest creative breakthroughs. And yeah, that part about death–wonderful.

Vivian, you rock for posting that video (and for other reasons, of course). Thanks so much!

Patrick, are you sure? I mean, every single person in every single movie uses a Mac. And what about the iPod and the iPhone–how can any of us resist too much longer?

“I just don’t have that kind of relationship with my computer and not sure I want to . . .” Deborah, *snort.* Glad to see you checking in here, by the way. Come back and play!
