Into the wild, part II
You know it’s hard for me to leave, in part because I never know what I’ll miss (what did Liz call it a few weeks ago? FMS syndrome–’fraid of missing something), and I’ll especially miss seeing your Friday lists, but the fact is it’s time to head out into the wilderness again, this time for a little longer. We were going to go backpacking for an entire week, but some of us have been getting a little antsy about all the things that need to be done of a bookish-launchish nature–not to mention that short story some of us failed to finish before leaving town, which is a bad precedent to set when you pride yourself on getting your work done–and so for a lot of reasons this will be just a 5-dayer, which should be time enough to sort out some of the lingering brain issues so that short story and some more manuscript revisions will just spit themselves out the second these fingers return to their regular computer.
So anyway, I’ll be showering somewhere, sometime this weekend, and if I have Internet I’ll check in, but otherwise don’t expect to hear from me until Monday-ish since we’ll be busy taking the long drive home. And like when someone has to pee so badly, but they hate leaving the room, please don’t talk about anything important while I’m gone, okay?

Okay, so now that Robin’s out of the room, I’ve got something really dishy to tell all of you. Remember her earlier post asking about what we would do if a spaceship were to land? Well, last night, you wouldn’t believe this….
No no no, it would be too cruel to go on. I’ll wait until after you return to tell you about the extraterrestrials who brought chocolate so unbelievably delicious that we all agreed to the various experimental probes as long as we could keep our hands firmly planted in the truffle box.
Just kidding. No chocolates are THAT good.

Can we say “blogaholic” ???

hey nature girl you’re missing ALL sorts of cool things–like what i just did. i called directory assistance, obtained the number of one “changing hands” bookstore in tempe az. and PRE-ORDERED “evolution”. i’m not sure how it came up in conversation (oh yeah, i said it) but the polite young woman taking the order was not nearly impressed by the knowledge of my close personal friendship with the author as i thought she should be.
so in pre-ordering barry’s book (which by the way, barry, in my corner of the globe is not out until 9/24/07) i tried a different tack. i said “i’ve heard a lot of buzz about this book from people who really know their stuff”. the response, “so shall we just leave a message at this number?” i tried, i tried. ps barry, amazon says your book is not suitable for readers under 16–do you concur? i have two 14 year old nieces i would like to give the book but don’t want to get in trouble with their parents.

@annette: As with all things, it depends on the maturity level of the 14-year-old in question. I know one parent who’s going to let her 12-year-old read it. Not my call to make.

Can we say “blogaholic” ???
I think we can hold off on that until she starts giving hourly updates.
“Sorry guys, running out for twenty minutes”
That would be a problem.
Incidentally, I’m finding quitting blogging is more challenging that I expected. Do they make a patch?

And Books-a-Million is refusing to put out Boy Toy before Sept as well. Those Bat-Rastards.
