National Delurking Week

Thanks to Liz at A Chair, A Fireplace, and A Tea Cozy, I now know that this is National Delurking Week.

So if you’re a lurker here, you are apparently required by federal law to post at least a “hi” in the comments today. You know I take rules very seriously.

Thank you, Liz, for the heads up. (Or is it “head’s up”? I never know.)

It’s “heads up.” As in “Hey, all of you over there about to be hit by a baseball, lift your HEADS UP so that you can see the danger and avoid it.”

  2. robin Says:

Thanks, Barry. This is why it’s good to have friends who went to Yale.

  3. readerdiane Says:

The UPS guy found his way up our snowy ice covered mountain to deliver delicious chocolate to my door. His comment was, “It’s not Amazon.”
I guess I have a reputation for buying books on Amazon…..

Anyways the chocolate was awesome, I even shared with my family. Thanks so much.

Five books down and 45 more to go….

  4. robin Says:

Readerdiane, it’s great to know you’re participating in our Tuesday 50-book challenge. Please stop by next Tuesday just to report in. You don’t even have to list your titles if you don’t want to–just catch us up on the count. It’s more fun (for me, anyway) when I know there are a bunch of other people doing it.

    Glad you liked the chocolate!

  5. Molly Says:

If no one else is going to ‘fess up, I will. I was going to contribute something for the fifty book challenge, but I haven’t even read one book yet this year and it’s already January 12. I do, however, plan to start and finish your book this weekend! Thanks again for that.

  6. robin Says:

Thanks for raising your hand, Molly. Welcome! Hope you like the book!

And before anyone says, “Hey, home come Molly has your book and I don’t?”: Molly is a librarian, and some librarians and booksellers have gotten advance copies of my book from the publisher. I happen to know more of them will be handed out next week at the ALA Midwinter Conference, so if you’re going, stop by the Random House Children’s booth and pick up a copy and see what you think.

  7. Patrick Says:

Oh, HI Robin! Delurking here. I know you probably didn’t realize that I read your blog quite regularly because I am so quiet and all…

And hi to all you cool people who comment here!

  8. robin Says:

    Patrick? Doesn’t ring a bell.

  9. annette Says:

I HAPPEN TO PERSONALLY KNOW SEVERAL LURKERS–PLEASE OUT YOURSELVES, THIS INSTANT!!!!
ALSO, BY SHOW OF HANDS–HOW MANY LIBRARIANS DO WE HAVE OUT THERE???

  10. Liz Says:

Hi! And hands up to being a librarian. And I do plan to stop by Random House next week.

  11. robin Says:

Hi, Liz! Thanks for delurking (as I did on your blog yesterday–a law is a law).

  12. Heather Harper Says:

I don’t know if I’m capable of keeping my yap shut/typing fingers binded to ever be considered a lurker.

Except for on Miss. Snark’s blog. She scares me. (Brings back memories of an almost tragic incident with a stiletto.)

  13. gracelin Says:

Hello…very shyly delurking. maybe I will work my way up to trying to win chocolate…

  14. robin Says:

Yay, Gracelin! Whoever you are! For sure come and ask me for some chocolate!

Heather, I totally hear you on Miss Snark. I cry too easily to mix it up with her.

  15. bj Says:

Well, not TOO bad. You did get a couple true lurkers to come out of the woodwork.

Gracelin, Liz and Molly, pleased to meet you!

  16. robin Says:

BJ, it’s a start, but it’s not enough. I’ve decided I will not post something new until ten people come out of the woodwork. Unless I change my mind about that.

Technically we can’t count Liz as a true lurker, since she’s commented before.

But Molly and Gracelin, definitely props.

So now please ask eight of your lurking friends to please follow your brave lead, and then we will proceed.

  17. Patrick Says:

I sense an ‘Annette finds lurkers’ story coming on….

  18. Heather Harper Says:

Gracelin…YOU HAVE TO ENTER THE CHOCOLATE DRAWING EVERY MONTH!

    (It’s excellent chocolate.)

  19. robin Says:

    Bring it.

  20. Laura Fitzgerald Says:

    Hi there,

I’m a frequent lurker. (And I’m your neighbor, too!) Hope to meet you at Laila’s reading in a few weeks.

    Laura

  21. robin Says:

Hi, Laura! Funny you should delurk today, since I just started reading your novel Veil of Roses this morning. So far, really enjoying it!
