I think I tend to agree with Kelly about the whole issue…I heard something about soul mates on NPR a couple of weeks ago and it crossed my mind that life would be impossibly difficult and sad if everyone believed that there was only one true soul mate for them out there and that life was about that needle-in-the-haystack search. Moreover, it’s debatable whether that person could ever really be the perfect soul mate anyway…I much prefer the idea of multiple soul mates, kindred spirits, what-have-you.

I believe in soul mates. I don’t know why, because I haven’t even been on a date yet. I want a soul mate, so that’s why I believe. Not a very good reason, but, hey, why not?

I am not certain that I believe in soul mates. Or maybe that you always find yours. I love my husband dearly but does he meet all my needs-no. I don’t really expect him to do that. Would I have wanted to go through this life without him-NO!
I do like reading about soul mates but how likely is that going to happen in this life? That’s why we have HEA.

I believe that I’ve travelled the same path with my wife over several life times. I do believe in having many soul mates. I’ve seen many a person wearing the same shoes as I do.

So what if I add to the definition that I’m talking about souls who travel together life after life? Do you think there are people in your life you may have known before?

I don’t believe in one soul mate in the sense that there’s one guy wandering around somewhere in Boston that you have to go track down. But I believe couples who work at it can become soul mates. I think that term is iffy because to me it sounds like there’s no work involved. Being partners with someone, to me, means always reaching out to them and being “actively” together–emotionally, mentally, physically, etc.

Well, if Diana is right and what I am describing is more a “kindred spirit” than a “soul mate,” then I agree with her–there’s no such thing as a soul mate. The situation I described is as good as it gets between people.

And, Robin? I hate to disappoint you, but I was so used to Russian accents by the time I met my husband, I didn’t notice it. I still rarely “notice” Russian or any form of British accent (I lived in Scotland as a child–go Scotland, Katie! I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you–so Scottish accents sound normal to me, and I listen to so many accented audio books from the Isles that sometimes I have to think, is this a Brit or an American reading?)

katie sis - ok - totally missing the whole mystical Space Lord like - this is the year you will find you man where you are least expecting thing.

And see, if you were ‘born’ dec1, then you were conceived 40 wks before that or so, and your SOUL entered the situation before that, so when you ‘turn 30′ (which could be anytime between Mar1 and Dec1) like maybe in June -oh never mind. It sort of loses its fun when I try to explain…

Anyway, I’m with Diana - just grab a guy and get out on the dance floor. He may trip, step on your toes, or whatever, but as long as you have fun, those things aren’t so bad.
