The Friday List (nice things you’ve done for yourself this week)
Hi! Happy Friday! Why are we so happy? Because the demolition expert is taking the day off! Because I’m going out of town to do a school visit! I’m so happy I could spit!
My nice thing for the week? Ordering a bunch of books, sitting down and reading them as they arrived, and now I’m midway through about four at once. Bliss!
How about you guys? What’s up in the nice-to-you category?

This has been hell week at my house, with my oldest vomiting as recently as yesterday morning and feeling great one minute and puny the next, and with my youngest suffering a double ear infection and massive teething. Translation: until last night, which was better, my husband and I had gotten a total of 8 hours of decent sleep in five nights. Zombie me. So, rather than watching Lost last night and getting my adrenaline rushing right before bed and then lying awake puzzling over the show’s events, I turned off the TV and went to bed. Of course, I spent the next 20 minutes reading Rebel Angels (finally, only a few chapters remain!), but this was a nice choice for me. And tonight, I’ll reward myself by eating ice cream and watching last night’s episode.

I’m getting my book today at Borders with a coupon. Have to drive a ways, but that’s okay.
(The only bookstore that is in my city is a half price books and Walmart/Target.)

I actually did several nice things for myself this week-Monday,my sister and I went to see There Will Be Blood(which we loved so much that we’ve been quoting lines from it all week).
I’ve been enjoying the new Kim Harrison paperback,For A Few Demons More, most of the week and might even get a chance to review the new Harrison hardcover that comes out at the end of the month,The Outlaw Demon Wails.
The best was last night, when I went to a taping of the new IFC comedy skit show,The Whitest Kids U Know,at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center. My sister got a fan club invite and brought me in as her guest! The show was great and at the end, they let folks join them on stage and I got a hug from my favorite member of the group,Trevor Moore:D! Valentine’s Day came early for me:)

I went to be at 8:00pm, and the big one…bought a HOUSE! WHOO HOO!
I guess that is pretty nice for me!

Shai, I’d say you win this week! How fantastic! What a great gift to yourself!
Kelley, ugh, you poor, poor woman. I’m so sorry your house has been visited by the Vomit Fairy. You made the right choice last night, going to bed calmly rather than staying up to watch Lost–no brain can shut off less than an hour after that. I hope everyone is well soon!!
Lady T, what a cool sister date (actually, two cool dates)! And what a great early Valentine’s Day gift to yourself! Good job.
Heather, driving any distance to buy yourself a book you’ll love is always worth the effort. Correction: you’re worth the effort.
Gotta head for Phoenix now. I’ll see you cats tonight.

Been hangin’ with the Scottish pastor who is visiting us for revival and helping us (finally) plan our mission trip. It’s been a busy, but fun week. I’ve been reading The Sweet Far Thing and am enjoying it so far. I also look forward to rescuing my sister from the horrors of sick kids next week. Hopefully they will no longer be sick though…

I got a bit of a shock earlier, realising it was Friday and there’d be weekly accounting to do!
Mostly this week has been about keeping my head above water - we took in a dog who was going to be put down by its owners, and he’s pretty insane and was thrown out by the change, of course, and our other dog was totally bent out of shape and there’s been too little sleep and too much worry. But none of the snapping was done by me, and no blood was shed by anyone, so I reckon we’re doing pretty well! And all the books I ordered last week and a few weeks ago arrived, so maybe I’ll even to get to read some of them sometime. The anticipation is lovely anyway…

Katie Sis, I’m looking forward to your presence as well. I’m also begging you to finish Bray so I can have the third part in my hands as soon as I finish the second!

I stayed up all night Tuesday to read Sara Zarr’s Sweethearts. It was nothing like I thought. I immediately passed it on!

The nicest thing I’m doing for myself is making my whole family take a quick trip to Virginia Beach - down on Sat, back on Sun - to see my niece because she makes my heart happy. I’ve been under the weather physically and mentally, and could really use a toddler’s laugh to lift me up.

Went to disney land! woot woot! hehe and a book sale where I got many books! lol also had a guy pour me a coke and though i didn’t really want it(I don’t drink reguler coke) I still took it because he was pouring it for me (xD), and we were in a limo, and it was in a fancy chamegne glass how could I not take it?!?! lol

Mother Reader, good for you! Having just spent the day with my own niece, I can totally attest to the curative powers of a niece-laugh. I’m sure your daughters are dolls in their own right, but there’s nothing wrong with loading the whole family up to go visit some happiness-inducing relatives.
Dylan, Disneyland? Shut up! And a limo ride on top of that? Are you secretly Miley Cyrus?
Kathy, does that mean you liked it??
Kelley, speaking of dolls, I’d say your sister qualifies for helping you with the sick children. Hope everyone comes out of the sick hut soon.
Lady S, big applause to you for rescuing a dog! Here’s hoping some of his personality issues will smooth out in the coming days so you can all settle into your pack. And I hope your original dog understands he/she is still top dog in your heart. It’s hard to bring in a new animal, but it’s even harder to see one put down if you can help. Good luck!!
Katie Sis, every time you talk about your upcoming Scottish mission I smile. Just love the thought of you getting to go to green country like that where there are all those cool accents. And maybe you’ll look up our pal TadMack while you’re there!

I asked for a second opinion. And a third.

XD no no no I wish though! lol It was my friends sixteenth birthday and that’s what she choose to do! They kinda paid a lot a money…. o_o paid for plane tickets, the limo all day (a big one bc there was a lot of us!) disney land entrance, lunch and dinner, then ice cream after, and to top it all off she gave us $20 spending money each! O_O Donn’t think I’ll be able to do anything like that for my 16th! XP but it was a great time!
