This only adds fuel to my case against hugging. Please, men, if you’re ever tempted to do this, know that we don’t actually like it, and from then on you’ll be one of “those guys” and we’ll say horrible things behind your back and walk the other way if we ever see you at social functions.

I think that it was one of the most sexist and disrespectful action by a US president I’ve seen. First notice that he never tried that with any of the other national leaders. All of whom were male. Maybe Putin would have enjoyed it since he has this thing for kissing little boy’s stomachs. Second it seem to me to diminished Angela Merkel position as a world leader. Almost to say Ain’t cute that we have little gal here. Am I wrong?
Herb, you’re absolutely right–that’s exactly how I take it. More stupid frat boy behavior of thinking we can do whatever we want to the girls, and they’ll be happy for the attention.
herb, again thanks for the insightful comment. the troubling issue, in my mind, is use of power to degrade–i do it because i can. not that i believe bush stops for a moment to “think” about this type of conduct anymore than he does as to the rest of the boorish behavior that defines him, it’s hard-wired. the sad thing is, as we shake our heads in amazement, or hang them is shame, he doesn’t give a **** about what any of us think–”mission accomplished” heh, heh, heh.
