What’s the coolest thing you got for Christmas?
Have to balance out the other post by talking about this side of your Christmas presents (besides, I’m inspired by Christen’s description of the Heelys she got).
The coolest thing I got for Christmas (other than a really special surprise my husband gave me, which I can’t talk about, and no, not because it’s risque) is the new backpack and sleeping bag I’ll be able to use on our backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon next year. It’s the kind of gift that inspires me to run right out and use it. There were other gifts I truly loved (the books, the calendars, everything), but outdoor gear always earns a special place in my heart.
And you? What present would you like to highlight?

Well, other than my amazing Heelys… my parents got my a gift certificate for a massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure from a local day spa! I’m really looking forward to that! =)

Love the gift of pampering. You had a good year!
My sister-in-law gave me a travel spa in a bottle–all sorts of girlie lotions and soaps, all contained in a pink Nalgene bottle. Perfection.

Those lotions sound great-I bought my mom some gardenia scented body butter and my sis a Burt’s Bees Head to Toe kit, which contains a nice variety of their products that should cover her skin needs for awhile.
I was given some great DVDs for Christmas: Pride & Prejucice(1940),Clerks II(2 disc version),Superman Returns(also a two disc version, yes!),Supergirl and Season Two of Veronica Mars. Also got two books that I’ve been dying for:Lisey’s Story by Stephen King and The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory.

Nalgene = fantabulousness!
(I have a pink Nalgene, too!)

Lady T, I asked for Lisey’s Story, too. Didn’t get it (although I did get the other great book on my list), so that’s one of the things I want to go buy for myself this week.
Christen, how did we know the pink-haired librarian would have a pink Nalgene?

Robin, So there 3 things in the world you wanted the most, you told us 2 things but not the third.
On weekends I like to wear suspenders. The suspenders you buy at the home inprovement stores evenually lose their grip. You know you bend down thugong one clamp release and bongs you in the back of the head. And you end up revealing more then you wanted. Well for Christmas I got industrial suspenders. Not only do the clamps have the usual teeth but plastic inserts that narrow the gap and a pin that comes out of one insert though the material and into the opposite insert. Four different colors suspenders to match my weekend outfits. I can hear relief of my neighbor who were seeing more then they wanted.

I get this every year.
My dad gives everyone a stack of scratch tickets. 20 or 30 tickets each. Takes about a half an hour to an hour to scratch them all and see if you won anything.(And I always win)

Herb, nice nod to The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl! Extra points!
Your suspenders remind me of that fabulous shirt sold by Duluth Trading Company. It’s an extra-long T-shirt that tucks into low plumbers’ pants. Called? Crack Spackle.
Patrick, will you be sharing?

Damn it! The third thing WAS suspenders! How the hell did you guess?

herb, the visual on the suspenders thing is most disturbing, not however as disturbing as the no suspenders visual thing. why not tell us about your espresso maker?
