Yep, saw my past lives
It’s too long to go into now–and besides, I may want to save it for my next book–but I wanted you to know that last weekend I was hypnotized by Dr. Brian Weiss, author of Many Lives, Many Masters and other incredible (actually, credible) books about his experiences as a psychiatrist helping patients through past-life regression. I was at an all-day seminar with him, where he led all of us through several different regressions, and I saw at least three of my old lives–the shortest one being a 12-year-old stable boy kicked in the head by a horse. Yeah, we can’t all be Cleopatra.
Anyway, just wanted you to know it’s real, it’s profound, and it can give you life-changing insight into some of your current experiences and feelings, like why I’m never going to enjoy having house guests or throwing dinner parties. So if any of you is (are?–I never know) expecting to visit me or have me cook for you any time soon, you need to get past it.
Still working on my rewrites! Due very, very soon! Love the new book, hope you will, too! But once again, despite all the advances in technology and science, novels still don’t write themselves. We live in such primitive times.
Ta ta for now!!

Dang. I was planning on dropping by your house and making you cook a large and sumptuous dinner for me. Maybe you’ll be a better hostess in a future life . . .

Thank you for being weird.

Patrick, that’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me. I’m happy to fly the weird flag.

Reincarnation is definitely a new concept for me, but you’ve got me intrigued. And hey, weirdness is interesting! Who wants to be ordinary?
Can’t wait to read more from you (whether blog posts or books!).

Kelley, as you may or may not know, I grew up Baptist, and we weren’t exactly encouraged to think or talk about reincarnation or other “weird” concepts.
Even though Jesus clearly says that John the Baptist is the prophet Elijah (reincarnated), but whatever.
But I’ve always been fascinated by the idea of past lives, and now I can tell you I really did see what I saw. And Brian Weiss’s books have been really educational, since he began as an outright skeptic, and it was only through his experiences with a patient that he began to believe. That’s what his first book, Many Lives, Many Masters is about. I really recommend it–SO interesting, and also so comforting, since it reminds us that the soul is eternal now, not just whenever we get to “heaven.”

And by the way, y’all, one of the speakers at the conference said something that I really love: “You’re not here to be normal, you’re here to be you.”
Let’s all embrace that. I know I’d prefer you all to be real, and not just “normal.”

Hmm, I really should say more nice things. Incidentally, Hi Pot, it’s me Kettle. I’m pretty sure I read many lives, many masters 20 years ago. In this life.
Kelley - it’s just new to you in this life.

Thanks for the book rec, Robin. And yes, I knew that about you. We have a similar background in that respect. One thing I enjoyed about your novel is the way you were able to intertwine science and faith, the idea that these so-called “new” ideas don’t have to be incompatible with what we’ve been taught. That’s just it, isn’t it? “What we’ve been taught.” There is a time when we have to embark on the journey of learning for ourselves what we truly believe.
Patrick, ha!!!

I don’t think I would want to know who I was. I’m sure I would suffer from past life rivalry. Don’t need the competition.

Patrick, feel free to share any past lives with us here. Don’t be shy.
Kelley, I’m always happy to meet people like you who are open to spiritual concepts beyond what we might learn in our childhood (or adult) churches. I think we as humans understand so very little about what’s really going on with the universe, with God, with our souls, etc. I’d rather know more than stick to some dogma I learned when I was six!
Heather, ha! But let me just assure you I have loved each and every one of my previous versions. And I have great sympathy for their respective problems. It makes me want to give myself an even happier life now to make it up to them. (Although there were several who had a grand old time on their own–they inspire me!)

I read Many Lives, Many Masters about 25 years ago, and it was a life-changing book for me, even without the regressions. I have a few ideas of where I might have lived before, and maybe someday will find Dr. Weiss like you did to get them confirmed.

You know, Judy, I meant to mention this before, so I’m glad you brought it up: You don’t have to wait for a private (or in my case, group) audience with Dr. Weiss. He’s made three different CDs with the same kinds of regression instructions as he used with us. I bought all three and have been listening to them at home–they’re terrific. They’re also very, very relaxing, so they’re great simply as meditation sessions.
You can buy them anywhere you order books and CDs. I especially love the one called “Spiritual Progress Through Regression”–it has the most relaxing healing meditation on it–I could listen to it every day.

There was this one life, where the stable boy, who had stolen my freshly baked apple pie that I set in the window to cool, was found dead, pie in hand, after being kicked in the head by my favorite horse.
I never rode that horse again, but that life taught me not to feel guilt over the actions of others.

Sounds like a really interesting book, I will have to pick it up!
Glad you liked it so much! I hope it gave you a little break from re-writes! Hope everythings going well! Again can’t wait for the new book! I feel like I’ve been going through the writing prossess with you so I’ll be so exited when it’s out and published!

I stopped by for an update and found the most interesting blog…wow! I can’t wait to read your book. I am interested in your past lives. It sounds amazing! I want more!!

Weird people rule.
If your next book is about past lives, etc., I’d so read it.
