MJG, I loved Black Snake Moan, too. So unusual, such a cool story, and GREAT acting. Not to mention fantastic music.

Christen and Nancy, I meant to see Strictly Ballroom, but never got around to it. Adding it to my list. Thanks.

Heather, there were several “trailers” that were made for Grindhouse… and I had thought that they were meant to be fake… but the last time I went onto IMDB they had some of the trailers listed as actual upcoming movies! I want to see Machete (I love Danny Trejo!!!) now! =) (And after watching Death Proof I now want to be Zoe Bell!)

Hmmm… my two favorite comfort movies are Victor/ Victoria and Strictly Ballroom! Whenever Steve (the other half) goes out, I eat sushi and watch one of these two movies. I love it!

Last year my favorite must see several times after buying the DVD was ‘Little Miss Sunshine’. I loved the innocence of the story with this quirky family. But, this season I am hooked on ‘Black Snake Moan’. I love the music track (play the CD everytime I drive across town) and have seen the movie twice so far. I love the raw, honest emotions in this story and Samuel Jackson is outstanding. I feel everything in this movie, the sweaty, humidity of the south, the bad girl trying to overcome the nightmares of her past…..I could go on and on. Simple stories with no fluff appeal to me so thse turn out to be my comfort movies—-no popcorn necessary—just bring on the story!! It also helped to hear the writer/director at Sundance and see his honest excitement that this movie had been bought and he was soooo excited. I caught his enthusiasm.

Nancy, absolutely. I could see that movie a million more times and still love it and laugh with it.

I couldn’t possibly part with my black velvet paintings. 90% of the stuff I had (and still do now!) for sale was all kids toys and stuff-it looks like ToyRUs has opened a branch store in my garage. My HOA is rabid, way too many people with way too much time on their hands.

Yeah, but her neighbor is the one who ratted her out to the homeowners association. I’m sure Deborah was very dignified about her garage sale. No black velvet paintings of Elvis or anything.
