Ugh, like, that same thing happened to me! My mom like totally got me the BMW Z4 Coupe instead of the Z4 M Coupe!!! What the crap was she thinking?! The Z4 is SO ugly!

At least she didn't get me a Lexus. Like, who drives a Lexus, anyway? Old people. No wonder that girl was crying! I woulda been hella pissed.

Barry, thanks for that link to Danica. That girl (woman now, but she'll always be Winnie to me) is so inspiring! I appreciate that she's using her fame for good.

Miri, I think I missed the part about that being a party rehearsal. Unbelievable. I'm glad to know smart, creative, sensible young women like you, my friend. You and others like you balance out so much ugly behavior on the other end of the scale.

Lady T, love "Downa Notch"! Perfect!

Kathryne, I think you're right--normal meltdown for a 15-year-old, but very abnormal reason. I once knew a wealthy lawyer who gave his daughter a brand-new Jeep on her 16th birthday. Turns out it was a "joke Jeep," since her real present was a snappy little convertible. The rest of us at the party were thinking, "Joke Jeep? Let the joke be on me."

What I find fascinating about the Sweet Sixteen spot is that it looked completely familiar: just a regular hormone-driven fifteen-year-old freakout, but on a scale that would be unimaginable to most of us.

I just hope her mom held her to her word and didn't give her the car or let her go to the party. And then started thinking very seriously about family therapy.

Thanks for the linkage love,Robin, and I'm happy to see Emma Watson being a Hermoine in real life, not just in the movies.

I like your superhero idea;maybe her name could be Sister Smackdown(which may sound too much like a WWE star) or Downa Notch:)

I've just watched that clip on Lady T's blog, and my jaw just hit the floor.

What makes anyone think this is okay? I mean, calling everyone at your party rehearsal (...party rehearsal?) idiots and stupid is bad enough, but when your (a-little-too-loving) mom plans an honest-to-goodness surprise...

If she doesn't want the car, I'll take it.

Emma Watson wins at life, I think. Whereas Lindsay Lohan and the rest of the rehab queens definitely lose.
