So sad & scary, particularly since this is a growing trend. The public libraries where I live have already cut their budgets, children’s programs, and personnel. Public school libraries are also in danger due to lack of funding. Argghhh!!!

I used to work there. It was my favorite place to work when I was with NYPL, and leaving it to head my own children’s room just about broke my heart. (It was nicely mended when my now-husband whisked me away to Seattle, but still…)

You can go to the Donnell Library and see an actual Newbery medal AND the real Winnie the Pooh. It’s a stop I almost always make when I’m in NYC, and right across the street from MOMA besides. I was horrified when I read about the new plan for the library in American Libraries a few months back. I know they aren’t going to toss Pooh or anything, but I do feel an emotional attachment to that particular place.

AW! I HATE it when stuff like that happens! It’s so silly too they should have that stuff at all their library’s not just one nd not even relocating it is soooo stupid!
