Forced downtime

At some point Friday evening, the hotel where I was staying decided I’d spent enough time on the computer, and it cut me off. I could still access some other people’s websites, but not my own, which also meant I couldn’t pick up any of my e-mail. Torture! But I’m back home now, and it’s all better, and my inbox is pretty overwhelming, but at least I can go back to eating oatmeal and walking my dogs, so everything is swell.

The good part about being forced off the internet and then being stuck in airports and on planes yesterday was that there was plenty of time to read. Four books in four days–woo-hoo! More on that tomorrow for the book club, of course.

So if you think I’ve been ignoring you, think again.

Now to tackle that inbox . . .

You know, people complain about being stuck in airports, but I always see it as a perfectly good excuse to read without interruption. This activity has been greatly enhanced since I got my iPod. I just put in my earbuds and forget that anything else is going on.

Forced downtime is sometimes the only way to get downtime. I’m glad to hear you took full advantage of it. These days, I can’t imagine devouring that many books in such a short time. Welcome back (and happy belated birthday…mine’s October 26…great month!).
