Mel and The Chosen People
I think Joel Stein is one of the funniest writers out there. Please enjoy yourself reading this week’s essay for Time magazine about Mel and The Chosen People.

Nice bit of sarcasm in that essay-I remember reading Joel’s column in EW(it was sort of hit and miss at times)and I think he still pops up on Best Week Ever.
Mel needs Sarah Silverman’s help,I’m telling ya! One viewing of Jesus Is Magic should do wonders for his outloork:)

Yeah, I saw the Sarah Silverman clips you had on your website a while ago. Somehow I don’t think Mel is ready for her. Maybe it will be part of his rehab.

lt, are the clips still accessible from you site? if not, can you re-post?
yes fellow bloggies, it’s annette, i’m back! my profound apologies to all of you and particularily our beloved blog-miester, for my absence. it was not precipitated, as some of you might think, by the snafu and resultant (fully justifiable) snit regarding a certain gentleman’s area but by this pesky thing called work that seems to get in the way of just about everything i’d rather be doing-”sigh”.
anywho, loved the article–picking on the aussies is a great idea (anyone know if there are australian jews?). however, my alternative is a lot easier, and closer, pick on the seattlites (that would be the citizenry of king county, washington). as i’ve mentioned in the past, i’ve led this campaign by reporting every man, woman and child to “what not to wear” (who is evidently too chicken s*** to take on this noble cause as i have yet to hear back on the application i submitted months ago). sure there are probably plenty of jews in seattle, but they, along with the rest of that tribe, are the chosen people of the pacific northwest first, everything else second.
i had already, by the way, boycotted mel gibson from my life, as i was likewise forced to do with woody allen. part of my ongoing, one-women campaign to eliminate, to the extent possible, creeps and the creep factor from my life.
ahhh-it feels good to be back.
(patrick i said hi on your site but don’t think it took)

Welcome back, Annette. We missed you!
I agree with you a hundred percent about Woody Allen. I have a policy of not giving child molesters any more of my money, even if they do marry their victims. I don’t even like watching him in the trailers for his movies. Ick.

I think I had anonymous postings turned off or something. These computer things are very complicated to me.
As I always say, My god is bigger than your god.
Can I like Jews, but still dislike Ben Stiller and Nicholas Cage?
August 9th, 2006 at 7:59 pm
patrick, don’t make me cyber-whip you. of couse you can hate “meet the fockers” without hating ben stiller. but you cannot hate “zoolander” without hating me.
funny you should mention nicholas cage–are you mad, stark, raving mad? do you remember a little flick called “leaving las vegas”–a masterpiece. by sheer coinkydink i watched “lord of war” last night–wow! two big thumbs and big toes up.

Never seen Leaving Las Vegas or Zoolander or Meet the Fockers.
Nicholas Cage proves that Keanu Reeves has depth as an actor.

feel that patrick–hurts doesn’t it? it’s me whippin’ you good. see those movies gdit! (not, fockers, the other two). and by the by i like keanu reeves.

Maybe I missed something, but since when is Nicolas Cage a Jew? He’s a Coppola!!!
Also, coincidence, South Park’s Passion of the Jew is on right now.

Lizzie - Can I dislike him anyway?

Annette,my Jesus is Magic clips are still around-in the sidebar of my blog, there’s a past post listing. Just click on the one that says”Mel Gibson needs to know that Jesus is Magic” and you’re there. All the clips came from YouTube(one of the best things on the internet,IMO).
As for Nic Cage and Ben Stiller,I liked Stiller better in his pre-Something About Mary stage(never found that movie to be funny)and Cage, well,it depends on the flick-the man’s been batting a low score lately.

lt, i’m not defending “the weatherman” for goodness sakes–but did you see “lord of war”? if not, please do. ps i’ve just “discovered” youtube and love it.
