Tuesday Book Club

Hey, it happens. Didn’t finish a book this week. Still savoring the one I began last week.

But in keeping with our no-shame policy here at the book club, I will not hang my head.

So, what did y’all read this week? And did you love it/them?

  1. Heather Harper Says:

The Nymph King by Gena Showalter

I’ve also decluttered the laundry room, kitchen, kitchenette, family room, and one small bathroom.

Still have to tackle formal dining, den, master bath, and bedrooms. (All the really scary rooms. hehe.)

  2. robin Says:

Oh, my gosh, Heather, you’re WAY ahead of me in all departments. Great work!

  3. Deborah Says:

These Tuesdays come up fast. I finally finished Focused Expressive Psychotherapy, slow and dense, but good if you are into Gestalt therapy. I read 2 Newsweeks, a legal newspaper, and the entire Sunday paper, and decluttered part of my backyard that had major snow/winter damage.

  4. robin Says:

    An impressive list, Deborah!

  5. Patrick Says:

I’m confused on which day is what…

Monday is B Donka Donk check in?
    Tuesday is Book check in?
Wednesday is Order from Chaos check in?
    Thursday is —-?
    Friday is —–??

  6. Lady T Says:

I finished Love is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield(a lovely memoir that’s perfect for Valentine’s Day,in my opinion) and am on the verge of completing The Perfectly True Tales of a Perfect Size 12 by Robin Gold. Still reading other books in various stages and planning on finishing up Finn by next week.

With an approaching storm on the way,I should have plenty of time to get cracking on those pages:)

  7. robin Says:

Yeah, Lady T, hunker down and read.

Patrick, try to keep up. Thursday is “oh my gosh, did you see/understand what happened on Lost last night” day (except this week, since I have other plans Wednesday night and will have to watch the tape Thursday, which means I won’t be ready to discuss until Friday’s post), and generally Fridays are when we talk about our feelings.

Except next week, when it’s all going to be way too exciting and different because . . . well, I’ll tell you why on Monday.

    So, got it?

  8. Kimmy Says:

I read The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks.

I finally got The Time Traveler’s Wife in the mail, so I’ll be reading that this week.

  9. robin Says:

    All right, Kimmy!

  10. eisha Says:

Ya know, I think I missed the post where you explained the rules for the book club, so I’m not sure if you want to hear about kid/teen books or not. But I finished A Drowned Maiden’s Hair yesterday and it rocked about a mile.

For grown-up books, I just started The Echo Maker by Richard Powers, and so far it’s painfully lovely.

Oh, and by the way, THANK YOU FOR THE CHOCOLATE!!!!!

  11. robin Says:

    Shhh! You’re welcome.

The rules are simple: everything counts. Re-reads count. Children’s, YA, adult, fiction, non-fiction.

The point is to read, read, read, and if you’re like me, then having a reason to report in every week keeps your nose to the book.

  12. Patrick Says:

Wait, I’m not sure if you are clear on these rules, but I am to be informed of any big news two days prior to everyone else.

Really this is just to confirm what my other sources have already told me, since I know everything.

  13. robin Says:

Whoops, too late on what I’m doing tomorrow. You’ll just have to hear with the masses.

    As for next week, we’ll see . . .

  14. Danne Cole Says:

I finished up the second book of Madelyn Alt’s mystery series and am now on to a YA called “Poison” by Chris Wooding. I have also cleaned and organized my guest bathroom and am halfway done with my living room! Have a great week everyone!

  15. robin Says:

All right, Danne! You did much better than I did this week!

  16. Michele Says:

You all are way ahead of me. Finished my second book….for the year. The Pilot’s Wife by Anita Shreve - good but reminded me of another book that I had read that I can’t remember the name of. Now I have a system so that doesn’t happen again. I’m writing my finished books on the back of my bookmark so I can keep better track of what I’ve read. Have been reading the Time Traveler’s Wife for about a year now and still savoring all of it. It’s one that I need time to digest, so I’m poking my way through it. Has anyone written a book about someone’s “Husband”????

Only got the laundry room cleaned and organized last week.

  17. robin Says:

    Yay, Michele!

  18. readerdiane Says:

I read Christina Dodd’s latest Tongue in Chic, which was pretty amusing.I read a couple of mysteries-Dead & Berried.
So my total was 4 books this last week.

I just finished the new J.A. Jance but I will count that for next week since I finished it last night. I like her new character.

  19. robin Says:

Readerdiane, living up to your name!

    Thanks for reporting in.

  20. Patrick Says:

Coming soon to a blog comment near you -

    Robin’s Husband
    By Patrick WhateverHisLastNameIs

  21. robin Says:

    Uh-oh.

  22. Michele Says:

Thanks Patrick - I look forward to reading that one! It would start something like this….Once upon a time a hunky outdoorsie attorney feel in love with the opposing council. After several meditative yoga classes he was able to approach the love of his life and reveal his feelings. Opposing council swooned (imagine - hand on forehead, head tilted to the left, knees week…)and accidentally stumbled into his arms, and she hasn’t left those arms since. The end.

What do you think Robin? Do I have the potential to be a writer?

  23. robin Says:

Michele, the world awaits your romance novels.

Truthfully, you’ve led such an interesting, adventurous life, you probably do have lots of good stories in you!
