Hey from California
Yes, I know it’s Tuesday Book Club tomorrow, but it’s almost 10:00 PM here, and I’m being picked up at 7:30 AM tomorrow to begin a day with three school visits in Palo Alto, CA (truly a gorgeous place), set up by Kepler’s Bookstore (truly an AMAZING place), and so I’ll be busy talking my head off, and I don’t really have any books to report anyway because all I can read these days is magazines because I don’t want to distract myself with fiction when I’m writing fiction (although I did just pick up two new novels at Kepler’s tonight, because people there recommended them so enthusiastically to me, and because I am an addict).
So consider this your Tuesday Book Club post, and feel free to list away. I’m going to bed now so I can be even halfway fresh tomorrow. Thank goodness for Starbucks!!!

I almost stayed up all night reading New Moon by Stephanie Meyer. My mistake for not reading on the first plane.
I also finished Specials by Scott Westerfeld last week.

Robin, enjoy your time in CA! And best wishes on the school talks. Very cool.
I’m halfway through The Sweet Far Thing and am finding it completely engrossing. I have read how difficult it was for her to complete this third part and feared that it might show in the text, but it doesn’t for me. It’s fabulous! Robin, I know your fiction reading is away in the distant future and that Bray’s work is probably not at the top of the pile, but I will enjoy hearing your reactions when you do get to read it.
Next up for me is a reread of Prince Caspian, which I remember as a great story (all allegorical stuff aside). I’d like to have it in my mind when I see the film.

Hope your trip goes well,Robin(it sounds like it is,so far)-I’m still recovering from my big Comic Con weekend, where my sister was not only one of the exhibitors but she debuted her first book as well. It’s called A List of Grievances and it’s a collection of strips from her online comic,The Original Nutty Funsters.
I’m still reading the same three books from last week but have added a few samplers to my TBR pile-currently reading selections from a short story collection that’s coming out this summer called Who Can Save Us Now?,with a variety of authors contributing original superhero tales.

I am still reading City of Bones, and almost done with Pride and Prejudice. I think since I am on this Jane Austen kick, I am going to listen to Sense and Sensibility next!
Have fun soaking up some CA sun and drinking those CA lattes!

This week I’ve finished Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy and it was AWESOME…I can’t say enough good about it and totally can’t wait the two weeks for the sequel to come out!! Also, just finished re-visiting Angie Sage’s Flyte and checked out the audio of the next book in the series, Physik.
It’s a light reading week in my world, unless you count that for work, I’ve been reading a lot of old issues of VOYA and School Library Journal, ordering books. New books are fun. Old journals are decidedly less so.

Have a good time Robin!
I’ve been pushing through Scott Westerfeld’s So Yesterday, The Luxe, and started to re- read (ish) the sisterhood of the traveling pants 2,the vampire lestat, jane eyre (eh not loveing this one…. kinda slow! Have you read it? does it get better?) And probably many many more! XD

I finished Maisie Dobbs and Copper Sun this week. Read aloud part of The New Earth to my husband. We both wonder if reading The Power of Now would give background to some of the writing with his newest book. But I will keep reading.

Hope you’re doing well, Robin.
I finished reading 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. It’s really good.
