Twilight anthology giveaway!

Hi! Remember me?

Look, I know we all like free stuff–for many of us the best concepts in the world are love, compassion, and swag–but this particular giveaway is going to appeal only to the true fans of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series.

Here it is:

Twilight_cover_web__2_.jpg

It’s the “completely unauthorized” anthology of essays by various young adult authors (including me) who are big Twilight geeks and have some theory to spin about some aspect of it. You can read an excerpt here, which includes a portion of my essay, which I’ve heard has already caused a bit of a stir among some teen girl fans because of a few lines I wrote about Jacob. Sheesh. I don’t think I’ve been called “bitch” so many times since . . . well, ever. But it’s a testament to how engaging the series is that people are so passionate about which guy they think Bella should choose. I’ve had many a spirited debate with teen and adult fans alike about which guy is right for Bella (although until now none of us has had to resort to the B word to support our point). I think it’s fun that people are so into it. Good for Stephenie Meyer for getting us so worked up.

The publisher was kind enough to send me five extra copies of the anthology, and now I’m going to pass them on to you. So here’s the deal: The ultimate selection of winners will be random–I’ll be using Diana Peterfreund’s excellent and fair technique of asking my man to pick five numbers between 1 and however many comments I get below, and those people will get the anthologies. So if your comment is number 8, and he randomly picks number 8, you win. Make sense?

And here’s what I want to know from you in your comment: Which guy do you want Bella to choose–Edward or Jacob?

I’ll leave the contest going until Friday night, and we’ll do the random selection on Saturday. Good luck!

  1. Ruby Diamond Says:

I was conflicted about this one for a while, but I’m definitely gonna say Edward, now. After the events of Eclipse, I mean. Also, nobody ever picks #1 as a random number… so, I’m guessing I won’t win.

  2. Kelley Says:

This is a major conflict for me too, not least because I’ve seen the Twilight preview and am completely taken by Edward. However, I spent way too much time in high school chasing after and being completely enamored by the “dangerous” boys. After nearly seven years of marriage with a “good” boy, I know what choice is smarter in the long run. I want Bella to choose Jacob in the end. Of course, I have to admit that I’ve only read Twilight so far, thus my judgment is based only on that book. I hope that doesn’t disqualify me!

  3. Patrick Says:

I haven’t read Eclipse yet, so I don’t really have an opinion.

HA HA! of course I have an opinion. I think she should be with Mike.

  4. Heather Harper Says:

Squee! It’s a Robin bearing gifts!

Did not know you were in the book. How cool for you!

    P.S. Have you considered using http://www.twitter.com ?

  5. Kimmy Says:

I know I’m probably in the minority here, but I definitely prefer her with Jacob. I have a feeling she’ll end up with Edward though. Guess I’ll have to live with that if it goes that way;-)

  6. Becky Says:

I’m on Team Jacob. I just like him better. He’s better for her. While I loved Edward in the first book, Twilight, he annoyed me in the second and third books.

  7. PJ Hoover Says:

Jacob. The whole “his cold hard body” thing about Edward just never did it for me. I can’t stand being cold.

  8. Jen Robinson Says:

I’m for Edward. I like Jacob well enough, but Bella and Edward had this whole Elizabeth and Darcy vibe in the first book that I can’t let go of.

  9. robin Says:

Obviously I’ll take my comment out of the calculation for the drawing–never fear!–but I just had to chime in and say I love that people are split on this issue. It really does show what a good job SM did in writing the series and creating this love triangle!

Okay, back to you guys. Keep the votes coming!

  10. Shai Says:

    uh…HELLLOOOO…EDWARD…everlasting love with a hot vampire…enough said!

  11. Lady T Says:

Since I only read the first book, I have to say Edward for the moment. Jacob does seem like a sweetheart but I find vamps to be more romantic:)

  12. Katherine Says:

Were they both her age, I might go with Edward. But the huge age difference between Bella and Edward is a bit squicky, so I’d rather she end up with the best friend she has fun with and with whom she can still enjoy both worlds.

  13. Molly Says:

My opinion is based on just the first book and may be slightly motivated by all the movie hype…but Edward, Edward, Edward. Come on, I love G-rated non-sex. It’s like the dream I’ve been having since I was 10.

  14. Heather Harper Says:

And I was so excited you posted that I forgot to say EDWARD.

  15. Michelle Says:

    Jacob.

    I think.

  16. Lesha Says:

    Jacob :)

  17. Vivian Says:

Very cool you’re part of this anthology! Jacob is a doll but Edward is mmmm.

  18. Sandra Says:

Edward. Jacob was way too pushy in Eclipse. He was so NOT a gentleman. Sorry Jacob fans, it has to be Edward.

  19. Faith Says:

Even though I am a hard core fan of both Jacob and Edward, I gotta go with Edward. Sorry Jacob’s girls. However, if it was me, I would take Emmett over both!

  20. Claribel Says:

I´m rooting for Jacob even though I know it won´t happen. Jacob is more fun and understand Bella´s need to have fun as a young girl unlike Edward who is controlling and has done everything in life and won´t allow Bella to experience many things. So even though Edward is amazing in many ways I´m on team Jacob!!!

  21. Kathy Says:

I just want to know how I can get a copy of this book!!!

  22. robin Says:

Good question, Kathy. The anthology is a “Borders exclusive,” so you can get it at–and only at–Borders book stores.

    Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone for your comments and your votes re Edward and Jacob. It’s nice that we can all still get along, despite our fundamental differences. Believe me, in some circles this question is far more important than “Democrat or Republican?”
