Wait, I used to want to be Nancy Drew . . .

Or maybe it was her best friend George–can’t remember now.

But anyway, there’s nothing like revisiting some of your childhood favorites to make you wonder why you couldn’t see how cheesy something was. It’s like the experience I had this past weekend watching the Land of the Lost marathon on the SciFi channel. It was a 24-hour marathon, and I taped about fifteen of the episodes, so excited to sit down and relish one of my favorite Saturday morning shows from back in the day. I used to want to be Holly–didn’t any of you?

But I could barely make it through three episodes. Yow . . . the CHEEZ. Don’t even get me started on the little ape-boy or whatever he was. And on the thick dark makeup that made Holly look perpetually ill. But that opening song, and the tiny fake raft, and the T-Rex–classic man. Worth watching the episodes that came after. Here it is, in case you don’t remember. (P.S. Did you remember that the guy who played Will Marshall just went by “Wesley”? Didn’t know he was so Cher.)

Anyway, thanks to Fuse #8 for linking to this hilarious in-depth plot analysis of some Nancy Drew novels by Bookshelves of Doom. Cringe and/or enjoy!

Sorry that I missed that Land of the Lost marathon-that show was one of my Saturday morning favorites. Also dug Dr. Shrinker(great theme song-”he’s an evil man with an evil mind!”),Shazam,Isis(yes, the Egyptian goddess had her own superheroine show)and of course,Electro Woman and Dyna Girl!

They really don’t make good cheesy shows for kids like they use to*sigh*!

My bad-it’s ElecTRA Woman and Dyna Girl:(

Oh,and check out this clip of Cyndi Lauper singing their theme song-it’s beyond awesome!:

“By the power of Isis!” Sigh. Too right they don’t make good cheesy shows like that anymore. But at least we have our memories! And YouTube! And those random 24-hour marathons!

And that Cyndi Lauper clip is awesome! Thanks for the link!
