Remember this?

I realized what I need here is a placeholder. So if you feel the need to speak to me or each other, here’s your spot for a while. I can’t promise I’ll be on it right away, but I will cruise by every now and then to see what’s shakin’.

Okay, back to Fictionland . . .

    Ohh! Snapo!

I’m not sure what happened either, but I think I won.

  2. I feel a haiku coming on (and that NEVER happens!)…

    Hiatus: too short,
    it seems, like summer, birthdays,
    and sweet life itself.

Boo! I can’t believe I have to go back to work on Monday! Booooooooooo!

I don’t know why I chose to express all of this here in your blog, but thank you for the forum.

I’ve been checking a few times each day since the previous post, and now I’m rewarded! Of course we didn’t all expect you to leave completely and totally and for always. I just got a fulfilling image of you sitting at your computer, madly typing away on the next story treat you have for us. I’ve got to work on my appreciation for delayed gratification. (First you leave to write a novel we’ll get to read who-knows-when, now Lost leaves for a month….) Anyway, miss ya and happy writing to ya!!

  4. jules says:

I echo the happy writing sentiment! Have fun, and be prolific.

  5. robin says:

Patrick, settle down. You did not win.

Katie, love that haiku! Sorry for the end of your hiatus, though. Hope you’re not minding your Monday too much.

Kelley, thanks for checking on me! I’m working, thinking, blowing massive amounts of liquid out of my nose (TMI, I’m sure)–my first cold in over a year, I’m guessing, and that’s just how it is. Hope everyone else out there is feeling fine!

    Jules, thanks a bunch.

  6. Patrick says:

    I know. It’s sad. I’m not winning.

    Hope you feel better.

  7. Katie Sis says:

I’m also fighting a cold combined with allergies. Stupid pollen.
I’ve missed seeing Tuesday Book Club here because I’ve finished Fly By Night, The Book of Mordred, and Prince Across the Water. I’ve started Queen’s Own Fool by Jane Yolen and am enjoying it.
Keep up your spirits and keep writing Robin! Hope you get well soon!

  8. Patrick says:

So – uh – What did y’all read last week?

I didn’t finish anything but I picked up a bounty at the store. The second Stephanie Meyer, The second Rachel Vincent, the third Scott Westefeld, and the fifth David Eddings(yes, this one is quite old, but I lost my copy)

  9. Lady T says:

Since this is sort of an unofficial Tuesday Book Club here,I’ll just mention that I finished reading Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout and just started on Jennifer Weiner’s Certain Girls.

I’m also reading The Philosopher’s Apprentice by James Morrow, which has lead to purchase online a copy of The Egyptian by Mika Waltari(it’s the basis of a 1954 movie that was a major influence on one of the characters,a movie I that remember watching with my dad on AMC years ago). Reading can be a vicious circle at times:)

  10. robin says:

Dang it, I miss the book club, too.

    Dang it, dang it.

  11. robin says:

Also, how is it scientifically possible for one human head to produce so much snot?

    Is that an indelicate question?

  12. Shai says:

Hey, The Teen Book Club on Goodreads is reviewing your book for this month! HOW COOL IS THAT!!

  13. robin says:

VERY cool! Thanks for telling me, Shai! I had no idea!

  14. Shai says:

No problem. The Teen Book of the Month Club is the full name of the book group covering your book. So if you want to stop by to see what they said, then you can check it out! :) Hope all is well!

  15. Kelley says:

Robin, the question about snot may be indelicate, but my family and I know exactly where you’re coming from. I’ve experienced it personally, but it’s amazed me as well that my 1-year-old can produce just as much as I can. Except she can’t blow it out herself. Yuck. I hope you get better really, really soon.

Thanks for the book club, Patrick! I am finally reading Bray’s third part of Gemma’s story, The Sweet Far Thing. It’s great, of course. I am also still mulling over Eat, Pray, Love. Honestly, I’m really a fast reader. I just have no time to read!

  16. Vivian says:

Robin, Feel better. Stay away from dairy–it makes mucus produce faster. Seriously.

  17. I’m miserable, too. My throat is so sore from the drainage that it hurts to eat.

    Hugs.

  18. robin says:

Kelley, how very special that your little one is a bottomless phlegm pit! You must be so proud! And what is it with little kids not understanding how to blow out? So cute, and yet . . . not.

The side discussions about book club are making me yearn for it so badly! I may give in! Just on Tuesdays! But let me stay away one more solid week at least. I really need the time.

Vivian, I’ll take that advice. Thanks so much.

Heather, sorry to hear that! I’ve been enjoying the sore throat, too. Booooooo. Hope you feel better soon. Both of us!

  19. Patrick says:

Ok… What IS Eat, Pray, Love? Is it fiction or non-fiction or fictional recreation of a memoir or what?

  20. Kelley says:

Patrick, it’s basically a woman’s travel journal, but it is also a description of the spiritual journey on which she embarked for a year. She spent four months at each spot–Italy (eat), India (pray), and Indonesia (love). At the first she focused on pleasure, at the second on meditation and turning inward, and at the third on reaching out. Her writing is humorous and probably borderline egocentric, but so far I’ve enjoyed the reading. It’s opened some topics I’ve not considered in my sheltered Bible Belt world, such as meditation and a more generalized faith.

  21. Patrick says:

    So, it’s fiction.

  22. Kelley says:

    Basically, yes. (;

  23. Patrick says:

Do we have a Robin back blogging ETA?

  24. Robin,
I know you’re busy writing, but the tulip festival starts today and lasts a month. Come enjoy tulips, walk in the mud, fly kites and attend the salmon bake!

  25. Patrick says:

    Blog, ON! GO blog! Start!

Gah, apparently I lost the keyword again…

  26. My word verification was “season”.

Which reminds me…I’ve been meaning to tell you that the tree and all holiday house decor are out of sight and packed away.

I thought you would like to know. ;)

  27. robin says:

Heather, THANK YOU for taking down your Christmas tree! That’s been such a disturbance in the Force! Many, many of us feel SO much better now.

Patrick, can’t you take over my Tuesday and Friday posts? You read books and do nice things for yourself, right? I hereby transfer those posts to you (or actually, to any of you who would like them). I’m enjoying my time away, totally immersed in Fictionland. I don’t know when I’ll be ready to talk about real life again (except for the emergency post I just put up–apparently I’m not totally immune).

Alkelda, thanks for the spring reminder. Happy Spring to all of you!
