Well I received the chocolayer. Yes I understand why the chocolate contest is put on hold. I was prepared for my shipment yet still somewhat stunned at the actual look of the layer of chocolate. The crumbs were tasty. I know I lost the sense and form of a truffle. Would M&Ms do this??

Now I'm sorry I didn't do a separate post on what happens when some of us give blood. Unless someone wants to read about the April chocolate winners, they're never going to find Annette's entertaining confession.

Miri, I like the idea of a chocolate drive. You're right--that's my calling.

Emma, just so you know, I didn't pee while I was at the blood donation center. I had the good grace to make it to my car, get the door open, fall into my seat, close the door and lock it, then pass out and wake up . . . you know. So as far as the blood donation people know, I'm solid. Unlike Annette.

OK, chocolate seems a lot better choice both for you and the staff at the blood donation centre :)

rb, i can't give blood either! what a coinkydink (sp). not because i weigh the same as a biafran 3rd grader (like a fellow bloggie who will only be identified as--deborah) but because i'm a full-on, all occasion, gloves off, fainter. never p*ed myself but i faint anytime, anywhere. i so should have lived in victorian england and no need for tight corset. i faint if i get excited. i faint if i get upset. i faint if i give blood. i faint if i give birth. i faint if i'm at a play and someone TALKS about commiting suicide. i faint if i'm on a morning stroll with a friend. i faint so damn often that my husband says, and i quote, "just 'leave' or 'ignore' (as appropriate) her, she does this all the time, it's her way of getting attention." how cold is that.

so anyhow, full-circle here, i have a fairly rare blood type, so when red cross calls and says there has been a car accident and itty-bitty baby is in surgery, i'm there. after three fainting episodes (i had warned them and said, "no big deal, just give me a bunch of cookies and juice when i come to") they black-listed me. i am officially not able to give blood, just like i'd visited a mad cow disease country within the two years prior.

so again full-circle, and it's not a pity thing--but i was wondering about the mystery recipient, you know, just in case, but whatever, i totally understand.

Congratulations, all! The last of the chocolate for a few months - what an honor! Make sure and enjoy it.

(At Robin's giving-blood story: Oh dear. But since they don't have chocolate drives, someone has to do it, right?)

Plus, I can't give blood anymore because last time I did I passed out and woke up having peed all over myself. So giving away chocolate seemed like a safer choice.

Well thanks, Emma! I just figure we all have to do our part to improve the human condition, and this is one of the ways I could think of.

You are so sweet to be doing this. I was telling someone about it and she couldn't get over the idea of giving stuff away to strangers. She didn't really understand the whole internet thing, but still, it IS a lovely thing to do.
