A big thank you to you all, and an update
This morning in a moment of weakness I decided to at least glance at an author’s blog that I usually enjoy (currently I’m in strict off-blog mode so I can do my work), and I found a fight going on that really makes me sick to my stomach. I won’t tell you which blog because really, the whole thing is so sad.
But it makes me realize how absolutely grateful I am to all of you who have participated in my blog these past two years. You are all so kind and gracious, so supportive of me and each other–you’ve made this such a lovely place to play.
So thank you. Thank you for being a positive force in the world, and for being the kind of people we all want to hang out with. There’s enough panic and evil and garbage out there without any of us feeding it. Thanks for creating such a nice community here. Seriously.
In news from my end, as of yesterday my work load just increased by one book. That makes three books for me to revise and complete in the next seven months. And you know what? That makes me so happy. I’d rather be creative and productive than idle and worried (a state I’m all too familiar with). I’m happiest when I have lots of work ahead of me. Lots of stories to tell and get out. Yay!
But it means my appearances here are going to be spotty for the foreseeable future. As much as I love just hanging out on the blog, it is a huge distraction right now–even the simple Tuesday Book Club. I feel guilty when I can’t chat with you properly about it, so I think it’s best to just suspend it until I have enough time to give it my full attention.
I will be holding a contest next month to give away three free copies of an anthology I’m part of, so you’ll hear from me about that. Otherwise, this is a time to write, write, write. But the good news is it means three new books for you all to read, each so different from the other you won’t believe I’ve been spending my time researching so many diverse topics. Which is why I love this job so much–I get to spend all my time exploring absolutely everything I’m interested in, and call it “work.” Bueno.
So let me end with my heartfelt thank you once again, with a big virtual hug, and with a sincere feeling of love and gratitude for all your many kindnesses and your rockin’ senses of humor. I’ve laughed more times than I can say at your comments. I really miss that!
But this is a season of work. And that’s a wonderful thing, too.
xxoo

We’ll all miss ya.
I was actually thinking about you the other day. I had an artist query me about a site she wanted designed, and I ended up offering her the site design in exchange for some custom artwork for a site I want to design for myself. We started a back and forth conversation, during which she told me she was going to be meeting some prospective parents in NYC, and hopefully coming home preggers. She’s a Surrogate Mother. This will be her fifth surrogate pregnancy, if all goes well.
What came to mind? Wow, this is a story Robin could do wonders with!

Robin,
Best of luck. I’ve been going through serious withdrawals from your blog, but if means getting to read more of your books in the long run, well, it will be so worth it.
Happy writing!

My anti-spam word is “season,” as in “to everything there is a season.” This is your writing season. Enjoy it! I’ll be here when you get back, and eagerly awaiting more books for the “New YA Fiction” section of my library.

My human-verifier word is music!
Okay, you may have time off to write (har har, I just realized how that sounded– as if your blog is your full time job and writing is just some cute little hobby in which we let you indulge yourself). I just hope to see you at the 2nd Kidlitosphere conference.

I haven’t chimed in for a while, but neither have you! (: We have missed you and will continue to miss you. However, we’re all proud of you and for you that you’re working on THREE BOOKS! This is fantastic, Robin. I’m so glad that it has worked out this way for you. I hope you’re having the time of your life. Thanks for all you (and all you commenters!) have taught me. I look forward to updates whenever you have a moment to give them.

Hello, all y’all! Checking in here. Thank you so much for all your sweet messages!
Tomorrow it’s out of the cave, onto an airplane, heading for some presentations in Philadelphia, then to NYC for my annual visit with my lovely, wonderful editor to discuss all the projects currently on the table. I’m expecting that to be at least a three-hour lunch.
Hope you all are well! Thanks for being so understanding in my time of work. I swear I’m using my time well, and I hope you’ll feel that way, too, when you read the results!
Ta-ta for now!

Robin… Go forth and multiply. Or somethin’ like that. ‘Tis the season. At least that’s what my anti-spam word says.
Truly, you are doing the big work of a writer and as much as we miss you ’round here, we’ll be waiting in line at the book store pretty soon, thankful that you put the kabosh on the blogging to finish those books. Congrats, truly!

I’m glad for your writing successes and happy to know that I’ll be seeing new books from you. But I have to say that I do miss you online. Come back soon.

Late as usual, but the rooting for your work-time continuing happy and productive is no less heartfelt for that! And the the anticipation of three books to come - oh yes.
