Chicago crush
I shouldn’t even be writing this right now. I have ten minutes to change for dinner, the escort is already waiting downstairs, but I have to tell you I’m here and still going, even though last night’s bookseller and librarian dinner went late and I didn’t get to bed until 11:30, then I had to get up at 3:45 this morning to get to the airport to fly from Seattle to Chicago to get here in time to do a school appearance, and the plane was kept in a holding pattern for almost an hour, so any free time I had between the airport and the school event evaporated, and now I have to slap on the panty hose again (Diana, “Spanx”? That seems like a conversation we need to have off-line, especially if it’s some product that’s going to change my life, like you say), and go to dinner with lots of booksellers and librarians from here, which should be great, but
I AM SO BLEEPING EXHAUSTED.
Really. Like stand me up in the corner and keep checking on me kind of exhausted.
But we persevere.
The school event this afternoon was totally worth getting up at 3:45 for, because those girls just made my day.
Have to go now. Sorry I’m so sketchy on details, but you wouldn’t believe how harried this schedule is. I knew today would the hardest as far as physical endurance, and I was right.
So dinner tonight, try to get to bed before midnight, then the car comes at 6:30 tomorrow morning so I can catch the flight to Detroit then drive to Ann Arbor for a school event in the early afternoon.
I left an earring somewhere. I left my brain somewhere.
More later.

Before you forget where you were last night, be sure you ask hubby to check with the previous hotels to see if they have the earring….
I left a diamond tennis bracelet in Switzerland at a lovely auberge…. was on the train back to Germany before I realized. Called them from my daughter’s house later that day, they had it and sent it on to my home here…. but who knows if I’d not checked back all but immediately?
[Remind me to detail the "epic trip" somewhere someday.... that certainly wasn't the ONLY thing that happened....]

Robin, I know you don’t have time to reply to posts—you’re using all your energy just to STAND UP!—but I hope you’re taking notes on this crazed, sleep-deprived experience.
You never know when you’ll need to write about someone who time travels amongst the planets in search of her brain, which was stolen by single-earringed spa hucksters who promise scalp massages and white chocolate milk baths to their unsuspecting victims…
Oh! I hope someone hasn’t written that one already!
(Please consider this attempt to make you laugh my way of sending you a bit of “cookie” energy. I could not do what you are doing now…)

SPANX are great for keeping all the wiggling parts together.

Robin!
I sure hope you’re getting plenty of the B vitamins to keep you going. Your schedule is crazy. I’m so sorry.
I guess it’s your punishment for writing such a fantastic book.

Hang in there-you’ll sleep some other time-you are doing great and you are having fun-keep telling yourself that!
