I get to go on your vacation!
Well, not technically, but I just found out yesterday my agent sold the audio rights to EVOLUTION, ME, AND OTHER FREAKS OF NATURE, which means two important things:
1. Somewhere out there an actress will get a job because I wrote a story. I can’t tell you how exciting that is to me. Being a drama girl from high school and having friends in the performing arts, I’ve always been thrilled by the idea that some day some actors will get paying jobs because of me. It’s one of the reasons I write both novels and screenplays. So whoever you are out there, you audio book performer, I’m looking forward to listening to you read my book out loud. Please correct any typos you see. You need to have my back.
2. Some day you—handsome/gorgeous, witty, charming, great-smelling blog reader of mine—will be on a car trip somewhere, or on a plane stuck next to someone who will only stop talking if you slap your earphones on, and you’ll be able to listen to my novel being read by my friend referred to above, and then it will be like we’re in the same room, my reader and you and I, and we should kick our shoes off and have snacks of some sort, but we can work out those details later.
This is so cool! It’s like it’s a real book or something!

How does an actress get such a cool gig? This is very cool. And exciting. Congrats!

Heather, I have no idea, but I’m one of those people who tries to find out everything about the process, so I’ll fill you all in as I learn.

I hear voices in my head!!!
It sounds like something Robin would say, but she isn’t the one talking to me.
Who is this ‘voice of Robin’?
AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!
No, voice of Robin, you can’t make me do that. I won’t do it. You aren’t real, voice of Robin. I won’t eat chocolate, drink coffee, and watch P+P over and over.
I’m not crazy.

Patrick, as you’d know if you’d been paying attention, I gave up chocolate.
But there’s nothing wrong and everything right with watching Mr. Darcy and his wet shirt over and over. I admit it’s more of a chick thing, but if you’re ever looking for pointers–including how long to wear your sideburns–Darcy is your man.

What terrific news! Congratulations! I wish it were out already-I have to fly tomorrow…

patrick, don’t fight it–robin will bend you to her will. you can do it the easy way or you can do it the hard way, fact remains, you’re gonna do it robin’s way. your resistance is futile and frankly just makes it harder on all of us. give yourself over–it’s okay. my own particular “robin must be obeyed” experience is i’ve found myself doing a lot of things i had no interest in doing (correction, “thought” i had no interest in doing): reading a bunch of books you otherwise couldn’t have paid me to read (and i’m a better person for it); going to many, many girlie movies (and at times crying, and at others laughing at the girlie-girls crying); and last, but not least, being bullied (ever so nicely), after being liberated from the tyranny of years of pet ownership when ole’ rudy finally turned in his ticket, into adopting a foundling puppy of highly questionable lineage.
her power is truly frightening. reverend moon, move over.

Deborah, your comment makes me think that next year when those audio books come out, I may have to do a few give-aways on the blog here. Hmmm . . .
And Annette, too right. The key words to remember are, “It’s good for you.” Have I been wrong yet?

must admit, not yet.
