And in an interesting fluke of timing, right at that same moment my husband was watching The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, and they were doing a piece on how Jack Kerouac’s On the Road still sells over 100,000 copies a year. A YEAR. And my husband shouted from the other room, “That’s what you need to do–write On the Road!”
Yeah, I used to think he was such a nice guy, too.
