If you need some incentive to write . . .
. . . check out this interview with Nora Roberts.
Any time I feel like slacking off, or whining about deadlines, I look at her productivity. Man alive.
I also love her philosophy about topics: if she’s interested, she’ll go write about it. No idea goes unwritten.
Anyway, read the article. See if it inspires to you spend a little more time at your computer!
This is wonderful! My favorite line: “If it’s something I want to write, then I write it. If I have an idea for something, I write the book.” She’s so matter-of-fact. I also appreciate that writing began as an outlet for her and that she managed to do it on a legal pad with two little ones clamoring for her attention. It says to this busy mommy, “If you want to write a book, you’ll write it. Simple as that.” Thanks for the link.
I know, Kelley–I love that part, too! It’s really a relief to think that you could get to all of your ideas by just writing this one and then the next one and keep going. It helps get over that indecision–don’t have to choose, just write them all!
Glad you found inspiration from Nora. I always do!
I also really love this part:
I like being alone with myself. I like having time to think of my storylines and develop my characters. It’s hard to do that if somebody’s talking to you. They should go away and leave me alone.
I’m feeling that way right now. Need lots of quiet and solitude, and very little chit-chat. New book needs lots of room to be written!
