Sundance!
I don’t have much time to write this, and you’ll understand why in a minute, and my heart’s going about a hundred miles a minute–
Briefly: Every year the Sundance Film Festival people host a Screenwriters’ Lab, where 12 people are selected to attend a week-long workshop taught by top screenwriters and directors. You bring them your script, they make it magical. As part of that process, several months ago I submitted the opening pages of my current screenplay, along with a synopsis. And I just got an e-mail saying that out of the 1750 screenplays submitted, mine was one of only about 180 that made it through the first round of judging! HURRAY!
Which means that I owe Sundance a finished, polished, perfect (as perfect as I can make it by myself, at least) screenplay two weeks from now.
Oh, and I got an e-mail from my editor day before yesterday saying good job on all those edits I just did, and guess what, we still have a few more to go.
SO:
Due two weeks from now are a screenplay adaptation of one of my novels, and the final revisions for another one.
Which means my anticipated six weeks off? Um, make that a week and a half. But who cares?! This is so cool! Work me hard! Push me! I’ll take it!
It also means I’m signing off here for a while again.
Off to write!

I can only imagine how excited you must be! What an honor already and a testament to your writing skills. My friend is writing his second screenplay, and I have great respect for the precision that must go into such a creation. Congrats! And we’ll miss you again, but we are SO happy for you!

Sara, you only think that because I don’t report the minor things, like “The Tooth Fairy came!” and stuff like that.
Thanks, Laini! I know you finished your revisions lately, and are enjoying life back among humans. I’ll be there one of these days, too!
Thanks, Dylan and Katlin! And Dylan, yes to the slight stress, but it’s a good problem to have!

Mother Reader, Jone, Adrienne, and Alkelda, thanks so much for your support! It’s so nice to get these sweet comments from all of you.
After working on this screenplay night and day (not kidding), let me tell you how much easier novels are to write–you have so much time in those. You can ramble, go on for page after page–
It’s very different to try to confine yourself to just 95-100 pages. Definitely exercising different muscles here!
Back to work . . .
