Thank you, Texas librarians!!
Excellent, excellent news! Evolution, Me & Other Freaks of Nature has been selected as one of the 20 books on the Texas Lone Star Reading List for 2009-2010! It’s a recommended reading list developed by public and school librarians from the Young Adult Round Table, intended to encourage students in grades 6, 7, or 8 to explore a variety of current books.
Thank you so much for this honor, Texas librarians! One of my favorite school visits of all was in Texas. Hope this means I get to come back!
Congrats,Robin! That is so cool!
Hah, my Captcha word is “way,” as in, “way cool!” Congratulations, BFF!
Thank you, Lady T and TadMack!
TadMack, how is it you know things like what the unspam word is? Captcha? It’s like knowing what those things on the ends of shoelaces are called. Brain!
All hail Queen Robin!
Oh, good heavens, Shai–I can’t live up to that! Just consider me very, very grateful.
I feel partially responsible for this, yanno, for making sure your book was forward facing in the library and book store.
Congrats!
Heather, awesome!! Thanks for doing your part over there in TX! You know how much I appreciate that!
I’ll be happy to do the same for you one day!
There is so much we can learn from you Robin! You will be Queen someday..or even PRESIDENT! And we will continue to blog about you and all of your wonderful accomplishments!
Shai, if anything, I’d be happy to do a series of posts one day (maybe for the new year) about all the many, many mistakes I’ve made in my writing career so far. I’d be happy if you guys could learn from me what not to do!
Instant poll: Would you guys be interested in a What Not To Do series? If I decide I’m brave enough to bare all my blunders?
Yes, yes, yes! I’d be interested! A way to make something good come from all those blunders, eh?
Congrats on the honor!
Congrats Robin!!! You should go celebrate with cake and give me some.
Robin, congrats! Such a well-deserved honor. And yes, as a writer wannabe with a full journal and a tree’s worth of unfinished manuscripts, I will personally get down on my knees and beg you for a What Not to Do Series! (It will hurt because my ankle is firmly wrapped in Ace too–how can you ignore that???)
Yes, What Not to Do Series would be great! And since you are so bold as to bare you blunders, maybe we can do it as well???
We can learn from each other as well. I think all of us have had experiences in our lives that have made us stronger.
That is what makes us who we are!
Shai, that’s a great idea! So maybe I’ll break it down into categories: the query letter, the meeting with an agent at a conference, the writing process, etc. I’ll share my mistakes, other people can chime in with theirs. Excellent.
Elizabeth, sorry about the ankle! What did you do?
Thanks for the concern…I broke that ankle about five years ago, it didn’t heal right and now it gets mad at me when it gets cold or I work too many hours on my feet. Last Thursday I worked 18 hours pulling off a Twilight premiere program at work AND we started to get our first major snowstorm of the season, so now it’s in outright mutiny, armed and dangerous. Sigh.
Oh that’s great Robin!!! Congratulations!
