The creative value of taking (a lot of) time off
As part of the research for my next novel, I’ve been watching lots and lots of videos of talks given by scientists, inventors, technology experts, and other creative people.
My favorite sources for those lectures are TED.com and poptech.org.
I’m going to start linking to some of my favorite talks, because they’re just too wonderful not to share.
Let’s start with this one, featuring designer Stefan Sagmeister, who every seven years closes down his business for a whole year to go out into the world and refresh his creative mind. There are so many great ideas in here, I hope you’ll be as inspired as I was.
And then stay tuned, because I’m going to be posting lots of these. Most of the talks are under the 18-minute mark, so it’s just the right amount of time for a gentle brain break during your day. Ahhh. You’re going to love them.
