Thinking blogs
Jen Robinson was kind enough to tag me as a Thinking Blog. Thank you, Jen! Coming from someone as brainy as she is, that’s a real honor.
So now my duty is to pass it on and list four blogs that make me think. I, like Jen, had a hard time narrowing down the field, but I’m purposely excluding ones that I know have already been tagged Thinking Blogs by other people. These include Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast, Bookseller Chick, Fuse #8, A Chair, A Fireplace, and a Tea Cozy, and Big A, little a (and if I’m wrong, and any of you hasn’t been tapped yet, speak up and I’ll write nice things about you here).
So I thought I’d discuss four blogs that might not have been mentioned before:
The first is Meg Cabot’s. Meg alternates between posts that make me laugh out loud–especially ones involving her cats Slutty McSlut-A-Lot (sometimes also known as Slutty McSlut-A-Slut) and Henrietta, who has a secret weapon–and posts that tackle weightier topics, such as the need for appropriate sex education and ideas about how to stay safe during a crisis. Every now and then she also talks about life as a writer, and since she’s one of the most prolific YA authors out there, I always pay attention. She is my model for a successful YA career. The key, it appears, is to write, write, write.
Second is HipWriterMama, especially since she started her Inspiration Mondays. You know I love a good motivational post, and getting them once a week is just such a treat.
Third is Diana Peterfreund’s blog, where she covers a variety of topics specific to writers. Since Diana is about a year ahead of me in the game, I like to read about her experiences in publishing and consider how I might deal with similar situations. She always has an interesting take on issues that matter to me now or might in the future.
Fourth is Mother Reader, whom I discovered through Seven Impossible Things Before Breakfast. I enjoy her combination of book talk and family talk, and there’s this overlay of humor and intellect I think we can all enjoy. There are so many times I read what she says and think, “Word.”
And because four isn’t really enough, let me give extra shout outs to Barry Lyga, Heather Harper, Patrick, Miri, and Living Read Girl. Those are blogs I visit every day, even if sometimes I’m just lurking. But they, in addition to all the blogs I mentioned above, are responsible for filling hours and hours of my life every day. So I either curse them or bless them, depending on how long my to-do list is.
Whew. Okay, now the rules say that any of you bloggers I mentioned has to do your part and list your four thinking blogs on your site.
Take it away!

I was going to nominate you and Diana with this one last week, but I thought you both had already been tagged. Bad me.

No worries, Heather. And for all I know, Diana’s already has been tagged and I’ve just forgotten.

Oh, I’m not sure I count as a ‘thinking’ blog. Maybe a ‘cool-by-proxy’ blog, which is an entirely different.

Patrick, I should have been more specific. Some of your musings are “that’s so Patrick,” but some are “wow, that’s Patrick?” You can be deep, you know. Just don’t make too much of a habit of it.

Thanks for thinking of us. Yes, we were tagged a while back. Cheers!
Slutty McSlut-A-Lot makes me laugh every time.

Your blog definitely makes me think, Robin. Thanks for playing along with the meme. I’m surprised that you hadn’t been tagged before.

Wow! Now I feel really cool being mentioned with all these amazing people. Thanks for making my day!

Yeah, been doing too much thinking lately… I think there needs to be a “How annette would handle this” story sometime soon.
Here’s a deep question -
If I lost all my money gambling at games I knew I would lose, but then won it all back at BlackJack, did I win since I expected to lose in the first place?

Patrick, No you lost. Send a check to me for all the money you thought you won.

Thanks very much for putting me in the thinking category. I was tagged before, and it surprised me a bit then too.
I like that I make you say “Word.” Fo’ shizzle.
(still waiting to hear more news on the film, esp with the Best of DC showing only a week away.)

Now if you can only get her to say “Bea-yatch” in context…

rb, my head is EXPLODING!!!! these are all awesome blogs–but some of us have day jobs, so no more temptation, please.

Patrick, I know! Bonus, huh?!
Annette, I’m so sorry, but if I must spend multiple hours a day playing on all these blogs, then so must you. Face it: this is the new normal.

Thanks for the shout-out,Robin! Your blog is definately a thinking place(kind of like one of those old oak trees in the back yard that has just the right spot to sit under comfortably and read.
I’ll try to do my shout-outs to others soon-my poor computer is still recovering from some nasty spyware but it’s starting to show signs of healing:( Thank goodness I can still blog!
