robin,
robin,
thank you for sharing that column. gk's wisdom transcends the occupation of writer and can be applied to whiners in every field. he is so right, life is so good and we are so abubdantly blessed in this country, why are we so full of ourselves. no matter how lofty one's profession, what it all comes down to is--it's just your day job.
p.s. stick to the chocolate habit.

Oh my god, I love Garrison Keillor SO much! My roommate and I are going to the midnight show of A Prairie Home Companion the night it opens (if there is a midnight show, that is).

"The fact of the matter is that the people who struggle most with writing are drunks. They get hammered at night and in the morning their heads are full of pain and adverbs."

SO TRUE!!!
